BACKGROUND

The fashion and textile industry are currently facing increasing regulatory and consumer pressures to address its significant carbon footprint. With environmental regulations such as the EU CBAM coming, and a rising demand for sustainable garments, brands are compelled to adopt carbon-conscious practices. As suppliers to global fashion companies, it is crucial for Hong Kong knitwear enterprises to align themselves with this industry trend to maintain competitiveness and fulfil buyers’ expectations for carbon neutrality. By proactively embracing carbon-caring solutions, Hong Kong knitwear suppliers cannot only meet regulatory requirements and client demands but also contribute to the overall decarbonization of the industry.

OBJECTIVE

To help the knitwear enterprises address the challenges arising from global environmental concerns by developing an industry-specific carbon footprint assessment tool and identifying possible areas to reduce carbon emissions through a study.
